Meet our Director of Guest Relations

Jan Leonard

Having previously worked with our sister company, The Conference and Events Venue, as Business Development Manager since 2015, Jan is no stranger to the FIRE family and knows the brand, our ethos, service and award-winning food inside out.

Throughout the last 3 years, Jan has successfully expanded and established many strong relationships with clients for The Conference and Events Venue, gaining invaluable experience and expertise. Having graduated with a BA Hons in Hospitality Management from DIT, Jan is a natural hostess and will always go above and beyond for our guests.

So let’s get to know her…

How long have you been working in the Hospitality Industry?

My grandparents owned a small hotel in the west of Ireland that I worked in from my teenage years, so I pretty much grew up surrounded by the industry! I have been working full time in the hospitality industry since I completed my degree in Hospitality Management from DIT many moons ago.

What does a typical day look like for you?

As anyone in the industry will know, there’s no such thing as a typical day! I work a lot with bookings for our regular guests and on our amazing loyalty programme. I also focus a lot of time on ensuring we are maximising our booking potential in the restaurant and our private dining spaces.

 What are you most looking forward to in your new position?

I absolutely love dealing with our guests – you can’t be in this industry for as long as I have and not be a people person! Being an ambassador for our company is so important to me. I’m so excited about getting FIRE’s new sister restaurant SOLE off the ground and watching it grow and establish itself in the Dublin Restaurant scene. It’s fantastic to have a new and exciting offering for our clients! Both FIRE and SOLE will have their individual specialities, but it’s great that our guests will continue to have the comfort of booking with a brand that they know they can trust to deliver them the best possible experience.

What three words would you use to describe your new role?

Ever-changing, challenging and rewarding.

What are your biggest professional challenges?

Being able to accommodate all our regular guests during busy times.

What do you find most rewarding?

Walking through the restaurant and seeing a full house! Seeing our fantastic guests having a great time, enjoying wonderful food and drink, and knowing the incredible team working behind the scenes to make it all happen is such a satisfying and rewarding feeling. I’m also a bit of a nerd and love having systems in place and all my T’s crossed and I’s dotted!!

And finally, is there a motto or personal mantra you live your life by?

I always try to keep a positive mindset and I find this keeps others around you positive! This makes for a better working environment for both staff and our guests.
