DINE IN THE DARK 2016
On the 9th of November at 8pm, FIRE Restaurant and Lounge will challenge customers to Dine in the Dark as part of Ireland’s first National Dine in the Dark week! A weeklong culinary celebration that will see 8,000 people Go Dark for sight loss.
Dine in the Dark is a unique dining event, where guests are blind folded throughout the full dining experience. Without their sight to guide them, guests experience complex tastes, flavours and textures in a completely new and innovative way. Senses are heightened, altering taste, touch, smell and communication during the meal.
Our team at FIRE have created the perfect menu especially for the event at €54.50 per person, with €5 from every meal being donated to NCBI.
NCBI is Ireland’s National Sight Loss Agency. Their services include emotional support and counselling, low vision solutions like magnifiers, assistive technology advice and training, rehabilitation training (including independent living skills and using a long cane), a large print, audio and Braille library. The organisation also has an online shop with lots of practical solutions.
NCBI CEO, Chris White said; “We are thrilled that FIRE Restaurant and Lounge have registered to Dine in the Dark on the 9th of November. Sight loss affects one in six people in Ireland, with FIRE’s support we are bringing people together to raise awareness, vital funds and of course to have fun!”.
